MONDAY MORNING CHECKLIST – MEET WITH THE PASTOR

Over the next nine months we’re prepping for VBS 2016 one bite-size step at a time with the Monday Morning Checklist. Last week we put a period on VBS 2015. Now we can submerge into a new year and theme.

ACTION STEP 2: MEET WITH THE PASTOR

Begin preparation for VBS 2016 by meeting with the pastor to discuss the following:
DEBRIEF VBS 2015. If you have not already done so, provide the pastor with a written summary of VBS 2015 that includes registration and attendance totals and the number of unchurched families discovered. Share stories and testimonials from kids, parents, and workers. Share aspect of VBS that worked well and areas that need improvement. Keep this part of your meeting brief and upbeat.
HEAR HIS HEART. Ask three people about the purpose of VBS and you are likely to get three different answers. Ask the pastor what he believes to be the primary purpose of VBS and how he sees it contributing to the vision and goals of the church.
PLAN FOR CONTINUED CONNECTIONS. Share action steps that have been taken to continue connections with unchurched families discovered during VBS 2015. Ask for suggestions for involving the entire congregation in continuing connections with families discovered during VBS 2016.
ESTABLISH GOALS. Ask the pastor to share several goals he would like to see achieved through VBS 2016.
PRAY. Share that you would like to enlist several prayer warriors to begin praying for the planning and preparation of VBS 2016. Ask the pastor for a list of suggested prayer warriors as well as specific points of prayer concern.
