Hands-on Mission Project for Journey Off the Map
Would you like to teach your kids about serving others and being on mission right where they are? This year we have a great mission project that is totally customizable to your church and community.
At one time or another many people may find themselves experience some “off the map” circumstances. During those times we can provide comfort and encouragement to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. This year involve your kids in making “Off the Map Bags” to give to children in a local hospital, to firemen or police officers to give to children who are experiencing trauma, the department of children’s services may accept them to give to children who are entering a new home, or homeless shelters. The options are limitless. A sample idea is pictured below:
In the photo we used our VBS 2015 Journey Off the Map Logo Stamp to decorate our VBS 2015 Cloth Drawstring Bag. Next we inserted a Journey Off the Map Color-by-Number Sheet and three crayons. You can use any colored crayons of your choice. Color in a number 1 with one color, a number 2 with another color, and a number 3 with a third color to create the code.
Click here Color Sheet if you would like to print a copy of the color sheet to use. There are four to a page.
Other items to consider placing in the bag could include:
- small toy figures
- hard candies
- travel size toiletries (would work well for the homeless)
- playing cards
- stress balls
- small craft kits
