It’s never too early to start planning for VBS, right? Well this week is a GREAT time to start! Why? Because it’s the week after the Super Bowl and there are TONS of discounted (and even FREE) decorations to be found! Here are some ideas:
GROCERY STORE DISPLAYS—Many grocery stores set up elaborate displays leading up the the big game, and now that the game is over, these great displays have nowhere to go but the trash. Stop by your local store and ask the manager if he’d be willing to donate rather than trash them. You might be surprised what kinds of goodies you’ll come away with!
BIG BOX ELECTRONICS STORES—Many big box stores capitalize on the Super Bowl to sell large-screen TVs and other electronics. Volunteer to take their Super Bowl decor off their hands for them!
CLEARANCE AISLE—Football themed tablecloths, napkins, cups, plates, and trinkets may be readily available.
PARTY STORES—This is another good source for table decorations and paper products. You may also luck out and find discounted inflatables, pom-poms, and wall decor.
HIGH SCHOOL FACULTY—Marching band season is over. Go ahead and begin developing a relationship with your local high school band director and/or coaches. Ask to borrow marching band practice equipment (practice instruments, flags, megaphone, etc.), championship trophies, or practice athletic equipment during the week of VBS.
