Zip Track of the Week: Basketball
When trying to engage the older boys in your children’s ministry, consider tying Bible content to a sport or activity that they would love, like Basketball! Zip for Kids Tracks include a Basketball track that has five 1-hour plans for coaching technique, skills, and drills through fun games that kids will love. This track can be utilized for those who have never tried basketball and for those who are experienced players. Maybe you have the junior high or high school basketball coach in your congregation and this could be the perfect place for him or her to plug in their passions with the passions of kids in the community. Basketball speaks the universal language of teamwork and competition, and this track will do that while building discipleship relationships and enforcing Biblical truths. Take this track into neighborhoods to host a sports outreach camp, use it as a part of a day camp experience, or use it as a guide for pick up games at the park as you seek to connect with others about Jesus.
Zip Tips for Using Basketball
- Use this track to connect with many new people, as lots of people love basketball and will already know the basics. This will help open up more opportunities to play and share Scripture.
- Debrief games by facing away from the court and any other distractions. Ideally, face kids towards you with a wall to your back and ask them to be seated.. If you are outside, remove your sunglasses and kneel so that you are on the same level as the players.
- Offer a sports camp as an outreach event in your city.
- Take this track on a mission trip to use in connecting with kids overseas.
Check out the Zip for Kids Basketball track and let us know how you plan to use it this year with kids!

I am interested in using this program for our Wednesday nights this summer, but I would like to actually see the lessons and what it looks like. I.E. What would a night look like using the basketball track? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
