Zip Track of the Week: Cheer
Cheering for a sports team or just using these skills to encourage your friends is a concept many kids are passionate about. The Zip for Kids Cheer track incorporates cheer, tumbling, and dance to teach Bible concepts for the day. Kids will learn cheers to use in encouraging other track times and a dance to perform in a Zip for Kids performance. This track includes warm ups, games, stretches, cheer motions, two videos so that teachers can learn the cheer dance before Zip, and much more. Kids who have been cheering for a while and those who have never tried cheering will all enjoy and excel at this track, while building discipleship relationship with teachers and being pointed to Scripture and applying it to their lives.
Zip Tips for Using Cheer
- Make sure your teacher has access to the two videos that teach and demonstrate the cheer dance before Zip for Kids begins so that they can prepare what they will teach.
- Choose a teacher who has experience with cheer. You may even use the high school cheerleaders that you have in the youth group at your church. Guide them to build relationships with those in the track around the common interest of cheer.
- Use this track as a part of a sports camp, Moms Day Out experience, camp experience, or a number of other ways. Feel free to choose to include the dance or not based on whether or not kids will have an opportunity to perform.
- Help kids develop a heart to encourage, not just the skills to cheer. Guide them to encourage their friends and family throughout the length of the event and on.
How do you see your group using the cheer track? Do you think lots of your kids would want to be in this track? Do you already have a teacher in mind who would be great at this?
