7 Reasons Why Attending a VBS Preview Is the Best Thing You Can Do in January
Ever wanted to come to a VBS Preview event, but for whatever reason haven’t? That all ends this year. Here are 7 reasons why you absolutely must attend a VBS Preview for In the Wild.
- You’ll get FREE STUFF!!! Do I have your attention now? It’s true! Come to a VBS Preview event and you’ll go home with free VBS swag. Who doesn’t love free stuff???
- You’ll be with people who are just as crazy about VBS as you! No one will look at you funny because you’re excited about VBS 6 months in advance. In fact, there’s nothing strange about that at all! At VBS Previews, VBS fans from around the world come together to immerse themselves in the latest, greatest that VBS has to offer. Whether you’re a brand new leader or you’ve been doing VBS forever, VBS Previews are a time to network with and learn from the wisdom of others doing VBS too.
- You’ll learn from the best! The entire Lifeway VBS team (the creative force behind In the Wild) will be on site and at your disposal. Got a question? Just ask! Need help? You got it! In addition, the conference faculty is made up of VBS experts who serve in a wide variety of church settings. Bring your entire team to enjoy specialized training for each area of responsibility during VBS (e.g. VBS Director, age-group Bible study leader, rotation leader, etc.) so that every team member can excel in his or her responsibilities. Your team will also have access to a wide range of breakouts from which to pick and choose—giving each team a training experience that is completely customized to them!
- One trip to the Creative Zone and you’ll be ready to head home and immediately start decorating! There you’ll see incredible decorations for every rotation site, plus Bible study and Worship Rally and get expert advice from the designers who made them. Plus you’ll have options to attend breakouts on both large- and small-scale decorations. Bring your camera and your sketch pad to capture ideas and inspiration!
- There’s a special track just for student leaders (ages 16-22). VBS Previews can be a time to pour into your young leaders and equip them for success.
- ¡Hablamos Español! 3 of the 4 VBS Preview locations offer training in both English and Spanish. Spanish tracks will be offered in Ridgecrest, NC; Houston, TX; and Fort Worth, TX.
- VBS Previews are a chance for you and your team to get motivated and to be encouraged. It’s a time to focus anew on WHY we do VBS. When we embracing the WHY of VBS, our individual and collective passion is stirred to take VBS beyond “what we’ve always done” and challenges us to reach more, teach more, and evangelize more!
But you don’t have to take our word for it. Here’s what others have said about VBS Previews:
- They are awesome!!! —Crystal B.
- Worth every bit of time, energy, and resources! —Melanie A.
- So worth it!!! —Kim W.
- As soon as Preview’s over, I start looking forward to the one the following year!!! —Nancy C.
- 100% worth it. —Angie L.
- I think it’s worth all the information you get. The classes are taught by some of the best. —Gail S.
- Been going every year since Ramblin’ Road Trip. Love the information and encouragement. —Deborah M.
- Our team goes every year. It’s a great place to get primary training for all rotation areas and to see the theme presented as a whole. Also great for ideas on how to decorate all rotation areas, especially the Worship Rally. And with those who create the curriculum present it is a wonderful place to get your questions answered. —Donna D.

Will you be having any events in the northeastern US?
Melita Thomas says
LifeWay conducts national training events in January in 4 locations, none of which are in the northeast. However, there are regional VBS training events taking place nationwide in the spring. Contact your state or regional SBC convention office to find out about training opportunities close to you.
