You Are Highly Contagious – 11 Things I Have Learned

Contagious is not a word we like to hear – especially in the midst of cold and flu season. But the truth is, you are contagious!
As VBS leaders we set the tone, create the environment, and establish the attitude others will mimic. I have to admit, during my 11 years as Lifeway’s VBS Ministry Specialist I have met more than a few VBS leaders who appeared to dislike everything about the ministry and their jobs. Their involvement has always puzzled me.
The level of excitement, commitment of workers, and everyone’s enjoyment of the week follows the lead of the pastor and VBS director. If they are excited VBS will be an exciting week. If they are having fun most everyone else will be having fun. If they are miserable so will be everyone else.
VBS has the potential of being a mountain top experience that kids and families will remember for a lifetime. We need to make sure it is an experience they want to repeat again and again. We need to check our attitude to make sure we are projecting the fun and joy the ministry deserves.
