Who Are You Praying For Today?
This week is typically the largest single week of VBS. More churches conduct VBS beginning the third Monday in June than any other week of the year. By the time this week ends approximately 50 percent of all Bible schools will have been conducted for 2016.
This is a week in need of prayer. Even if your church is not in the midst of VBS there are many churches that are. Who are you praying for today?
My church is one of those first full week of June churches. Prayer was an important part of preparation from the first day of planning, and a special prayer service was conducted the Sunday evening prior to the big day. But, we were not the only ones praying.
Throughout the week I was constantly reminded that VBS is much bigger than a single church or even a single denomination. Friends from as far away as Arizona and Florida – and many spots on the map in between – sent messages by way of text, e-mails, and phone calls letting me know they were praying for our VBS and the unchurched families who would participate.
There was not a day that passed without someone who was totally unrelated to our church letting me know they were praying, inquiring what they could specifically pray for, or inquiring how the week was going. And believe me, with 27 second graders (nearly all unchurched) the prayers were tremendously appreciated.
Now it is my turn to return the favor and prayer support. I hope you will join me by letting a church down the street or around the world know you are praying. Who are you praying for today?

I am praying for Faith Covenant Church in St. Petersburg, FL – especially for someone near and dear to me who’s father went home to be with Jesus and yet she carries on the week as that is what her dad would want. I’m praying for the leaders who are tending to all the children and praising God for those children who attended this same VBS all of their lives and have now chosen to volunteer and work with the new generation of kids growing with Jesus. We are a truly blessed people.
