Monday Morning Checklist – Time to Make a Major Enlistment Push
The week following Easter we typically see a surge in VBS activity. It may actually be the biggest VBS week of the year. Not for conducting Bible schools, but for planning, enlisting, and purchasing resources.
Now that the activities and services of Holy Week have passed, a large number of church leaders turn their attentions to summer activities, and especially VBS. At Lifeway we typically see a post-Easter spike in curriculum purchases so we know leaders are waking up to the reality that VBS is basically nine weeks away.
Since you have been staying up to date with the Monday Morning Checklist there is no need for you to panic. By this point you have already created most of your plans and have enlisted your leadership team, promotion team, and decorations team. You are way ahead of the game!
By now you should know how many workers you will need, what you need them to do, and have your leadership team ready to make a major enlistment push. Set a goal to have enlistment completed within a couple of weeks. Mark the goal date in big letters on your calendar and the church calendar. Make sure the VBS leadership team and church staff know the date. Create accountability for yourself and your team. Setting a definite date is a fantastic deterrent to procrastination.
