Pray Today for VBS 2017
Yes, you read the headline correctly. 2017?
As you read this post, Lifeway’s VBS team has gathered for the most important task of the year – developing the Biblical content and theme for VBS 2017.
We have reviewed survey answers from approximately 30,000 kids, spent two days dreaming potential themes with VBS and kid ministry leaders from across the U.S., and now it is time to take all of this information and develop a theme.
We take this task extremely seriously – with much prayer, contemplation, and discussion. We know that what we do in these few days will impact thousands of churches and millions of lives.
We would like to invite you to join us today and tomorrow as the most important members of the team – our prayer partners. We know many of you pray for us daily, but today the prayer request is very specific. We ask you to pray that we will be able to clearly discern God’s direction for the Biblical content and theme that will speak to the hearts of kids, teens, and adults two years from know.
Our greatest desire is to be able to walk away from the next two days with the knowledge that only God could have brought us to the conclusion that will be made.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us;
establish for us the work of our hands–
establish the work of our hands!

Just to let you know I have prayed for you all this morning. Only God does know what our hearts will need to focus on in the Summer of 2017. He will pull you, His servants, into agreement on His Bible truths to share and even down to the smallest detail of how to “WOW” the children and get them interested and involved with learning about God’s love and His truth. Just an extra incentive….we have two children to give their hearts to Jesus and 1 teenage worker during this year’s VBS! God bless you, Bevelyn

Wow! You are a true VBS Geek (our affectionate term for people who eat, breath, and sleep VBS). The theme for VBS17 will be revealed Monday, June 6.
I need a hint soon! I am literally jumping for joy right now. If you can, will you give a hint on the setting (ex: arctic, desert, etc.) or the main Idea, (ex: a theme park(Collassal Coaster World), secret agent (Agency D3), well heck, a journey off the map ,a flight around the world, (Amazing Wonders Aviation) A train to a different country,(BoomerRang Express) or the beach,(Outrigger Island) underwater adventure, (SUBMERGED!!) or a sports week, (All Star Sports) a trip to NYC (Big?Adventure, you get the idea)? Macy, the LifeWay’s VBS team loves you as well. Considering the extensive list of themes you have mentioned I’m not sure there is a new theme out there. But guess what – we came up with one and we can’t wait to tell you all about it Monday, June 6.
Can you give a hint on the setting of the theme? (Ex: arctic, desert,) or main idea? ( ex: a flight around the world, in a submarine, secret agent, a amusement park, a journey off the map, or, a train to Austrailia)
Macy – you are sneaky. Wouldn’t you love for me to give you a hint. All I will say is the theme for VBS17 is like nothing we have ever done before. Kids are going to love it – and you will too. Stay tuned and we will let you know the first Monday in June.
Y’all do such a great job planning the themes for VBS each year. As stressful as it is to plan for VBS, I can’t help looking for the next years theme. LOL. I can’t wait to see what next year brings us!! I love the challenge each year to wow the kids with decorations as they walk in the first day of VBS.
Would like to know when the clues to find out the theme for VBS 2017 will begin. It is a yearly test here at our church to try to guess. We are always wrong but we love the thrill of the clues.
Karen, I’m not sure there will be clues for VBS 2017. We are dreaming a new way to introduce the theme which will be announced Monday, June 6.

I am so excited about this years VBS! But I’m getting even more excited about 2017! I’m ready to plan, we have not had a VBS for 6 years.
I know God already has a plan for next years, but just have to put in my wish,
Aviation, I don’t believe there’s been one of that theme, were diving deeper into God’s Word, how about Flying High with Him? Could have Missions,
Fly around the world!

Considering VBS begins one month from today at my church, June does not seem like a long time away at all. Here is your first clue – something else happens one month from today. Oh my goodness!!! It’s almost June 6th!!!!
Your themes just keep getting better each year! We’ve thoroughly enjoyed being involved for about 10 years straight now. It’s obvious God has been leading you all from adventurous themes and decor, to amazing music, and the way the lessons build upon one another to present the gospel. I pray that you all will feel a fresh anointing and renewed passion and energy as you continue to out-do yourselves year after year! I can’t wait to get started dreaming up plans for 2017’s theme!!!
