To Know Your Guide – The Gift of Christmas
The last few days before Christmas often become so crowded with activity we miss the true Message and Gift we claim to celebrate. Stop for a few minutes, take a deep breath, and reflect on the passages from Day 1 of VBS 2015 Journey Off the Map.
When the time came to completion,
God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
to redeem those under the law,
so that we might receive adoption as sons.
Galatians 4:4-5 HCSB

In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: Today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David. This will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in cloth and lying in a feeding trough.” Luke 2:8-11 HCSB

Jesus was going all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. Then the news about Him spread throughout Syria. So they brought to Him all those who were afflicted, those suffering from various diseases and intense pains, the demon-possessed, the epileptics, and the paralytics. And He healed them. Large crowds followed Him from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan. Matthew 4:23-25 HCSB

For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 HCSB
