Off the Map – What's Your Story?
The VBS conversation has changed radically the past few years. We are no longer just talking about the outreach and evangelistic potential of the week of VBS, we are talking about the phenomenal opportunities of reaching entire families and staying connected long after the week of VBS has passed.
We have been challenged to make VBS more evangelistic than ever before. We have been challenged to build bridges to spiritual orphans. We have been challenged to reach not only children but intentionally build bridges to the entire family. We have been challenged to continue the connection begun during VBS long after the week is over. And, we have been challenged to create Connection Groups that embrace the parents of unchurched children discovered during VBS.
Many of you have accepted these challenges. You have led your congregations to journey off the map, try something new, and become bridge builders. We have heard many of your stories and they are amazing. Hearts are being transformed. The Kingdom is being expanded. Culture is being shaped.
As we begin looking to a new year of VBS – a new year of opportunities – we would love for you to share your Off the Map stories. Your story may be just the nudge needed to challenge another VBS leader to take their VBS Off the Map.
At the VBS 2013 Preview, Dr. Shane Garrison challenged us all by sharing his story – the story of a spiritual orphan introduced to Jesus Christ during VBS. At the VBS 2014 Preview, Dr. Garrison shared the rest of his story – the story of a congregation intentionally and lovingly fully adopting him not just during the weeks following VBS but for life.
During VBS 2015 Preview this January we want to share your story. I look forward to hearing from you. You can replay to this post or you can send your story to me personally at [email protected].
