What's New in Journey Off the Map
I’m proud to work with a team that never settles for good enough. The team is constantly listening to church leaders, asking questions, evaluating, tweaking, creating, and striving to make VBS resources that are Biblically trustworthy, evangelistically focused, age appropriate, and user friendly. Journey Off the Map resources are quiet possibly the best yet.
Here are just a few of the new and improved resources you will find for VBS 2015 Journey Off the Map.
EXPLORER BIBLE – Genesis to Revelations plus 30 days of devotions, marked plan of salvation, and fun fact pages. Available in HCSB and KJV. (Replaces VBS New Testament.)
BABIES-2S LEADER GUIDE – Designed as a flipbook of Bible and theme-related activities instead of a prescribed plan for each day. Teachers can pick and choose a few activities to do each day or repeat activities through the week.
PRESCHOOL KEEPSAKE BOOK – (Replaces Babies- 2s Learner Guide.) Designed specifically for Babies- 2s but is a great keepsake for preschoolers of all ages. Each page allows for interaction from the child (e.g. placing a hand or footprint on the page, taping in items found on nature walks, or attaching photos) and helps parents know what their kids did at VBS. Think of it like a scrapbook – parents will love it!

MISSIONS ROTATION LEADER GUIDE (Kids) – Margin suggestions for adapting activities to a large group setting for those who teach missions in Worship Rally or to all kids at once. HANDS ON MISSION PROJECT- Off the Map Bags (canvas bags filled with small items to be given to children’s hospitals, police or fire departments to hand out when kids are in difficult “off the map” situations.)
SNACK CARDS – Expanded to include two snacks on every card, plus 10 dinner menu suggestions and 5 Bible related snacks.
STUDENT STARTER KIT – New name and expanded format for Student Leader Guide. Includes leader guide, pack items (so leader do not have to print 4-color posters from DVD-ROM), one sample learner guide, and DVD-Rom.

Really wish that you guys would look into a better student book. The ones last year the kids paid more attention to the flashlight and decoder than to the lesson. Noticed that we have sort of the same thing for this year. just a suggestion. Other than that love love love the materials . Bible Study and background for each is great

Sounds exciting. Liking the sounds of bible related snack idea’s. Any opportunity to relate bible content is appreciate. See you at Ridgecrest in January. We are already registered. Woo Hoo!

Linda, Dr. Cash taught me in High School that the word Bible is always capitalized. I wrote an essay on “The Bible” (I knew so much – Ha Ha) and Dr. Cash put red capital “B’s” all over my paper. I have never forgotten that lesson.

Thank you SO much for including large group suggestions for the missions curriculum! I teach large groups for missions time and have had to not do certain activities simply because they weren’t conducive to a group of 50, sometime 100+. I’m excited to see this new addition!

Thank you to whoever made the decision to do the detective kit last year and the field kit this year. We had decided to not order the little booklets last year, and to try and make our own. The kits changed our mind. The kids loved them, and engagement in Bible study actually went up with out group! Can’t wait to hand them out this year.
THANK YOU

Kindergarten is not Preschool. Kindergarten students do not enjoy materials (this year the field kid) that says Preschool. All public schools in our state are K-5. Please consider moving the kindergarten materials out of the Preschool realm.

Debra, thanks for your suggestion. I have passed it on to our team. Schools are all over the map concerning the placement of kindergarten-aged kids and where they fit in the VBS world has been the topic of many conversations around LifeWay.

I would like to see a sample page of the Explorer Bible if that is possible; would like to know what size of font is used. I love the material!
Jerry Wooley says
Angel, I sent a sample page to your personal e-mail account.
