Follow-up Kit Giveaway
One of the most important aspects of VBS to me is how we follow up with the new kids who come to VBS. Do they know we cared during the week? Yes. Did they have a great time? Yeah! Did they learn about Jesus. You bet! But what does that mean to them if they cease to hear from us the moment they walk out of the church doors. It’s so important for kids and their families to see God’s love at work in you outside of the church building. A phone call, a card, a visit on the door step. Any of these can show kids that Christ’s love is real at active.
Become a part of their lives. Pray for their problems. Help them when their family is in need. Be Jesus’ hands and feet to them.
There’s more information about how to plan a successful follow-up plan in the Continue the Connections portion of your VBS 2014 Administrative Guide for Directors or VBS 2014 Backyard Kids Club Directors Guide. We hope that these resources will help you translate your desire to help others into action.
In the meantime, to give you a little boost of inspiration, we’re giving away a little Follow-up Kit! This Agency D3 Bag contains VBS 2014 Bookmarks, stickers, picture frames, and blank note cards, as well as a Takin’ It Home CD, which you are free to duplicate for your kids.
Consider creating a treat bag with a framed picture of each visiting child, a bookmark, a card, and a CD. The CDs have content related to each day in Agency D3, so that kids can ideally listen to it with their parents on their way home from VBS each day. Have fun with this giveaway as you work to reach the kids in your community. We’re praying for your efforts as summer comes into full swing!

We plan on following VBS up with personal visits. It will be so much more effective it we had BKC kit to assist with ideas for follow-up. We’re exhausting our education budget on VBS this year!
This is the area that we must work on this year!
Personal visits
I am entering the giveaway!
Inviting the patents and kids back. Discussing our many different programs that we offer.
Any thoughts on following up with vbs-hoppers who you know belong to another church?
Excited!
We use postcards to follow up our VBS
Last day of my first VBS at my new church! It’s been a great week! Thanks for a great product!!
I would love to win this
I love to have this at our little church!! We always have fun but we never did follow up but would like to start!!
Thank you for the chance to win the follow-up kit! I’ve enjoyed reading all the blog posts as our church prepares for VBS!
We had a outdoors movie night last year where we re-watched the daily Worship Rally videos and eat lots of flavored popcorn. All kids and their families, and staff are invited!
Had a Christmas party last year to watch a Christmas movie, sing carols, and eat goodies. All who attended VBS last year along with their families and anyone they might invite to the upcoming VBS year are welcome to attend!
Follow up is so important! As a small church having 100 participants was a a giant blessing and after our VBS last year we sent some postcards and letters reminding people to continue the blessing. I am happy to say because of the follow up we now have gained 5 children and 7 adults for the Lord!
Love vbs
Most successful follow-up was when our Commission Groups took names of VBS visitors and went to each home on a Wednesday night with goodies like these in this give-a-way. Most years, we try to have VBS directors make a contact, then the next week have the VBS teacher make a contact and finally the Sunday School teacher make a contact.
Hope I win!!
Would love this gift!
Great!
I’m looking forward to our VBS in July!
Our most effective followup strategies are followup calls/visits. Thanks for sponsoring the giveaway and God Bless 🙂
It’s our first time teaching at VBS. excited to teach the kids how to Discover, Decide, Defend. It would be great to have a followup kit to stay connected with them and their families after.
This seems like such a great idea to expand what the kids have learned and continue to reach out to them!
We could use that.
POWER OF PURPOSE CHRISTIAN CENTER ! THIS IS OUR 1ST VBS. WE ARE LOCATED IN A CHALLENGING COMMUNITY THAT HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN WHO HAVE POSSIBLE NEVER STEPPED A FOOT IN A CHURCH. SO THIS IS OUR PURPOSE TO BRING THE LOVE OF GOD AND THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIS WORD TO THE YOUTH. WE ARE SO VERY EXCITED TO HAVE THIS VBS THIS YEAR AND WE THANK EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED THEIR TIME, FUNDS AND HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR US. WE DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO WOW OUT THE STATIONS AS OTHERS BUT WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH SOME ITEMS AND WILL GOD DO THE REST.
We just wrapped up last night! Follow up starting very soon!!
My most effective way of follow up, besides calling every kid personally, is giving them our summer fun schedule and connecting a child their age to call and invite them to these events.
That’s the best thing yet
We love to call and visit!
We just finished a great week of Agency D3. Thank you Lifeway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUi79G6RZKM
Inviting children to our other events
I put together follow up bags with their certificate of completion and a few related items, then we have a couple of volunteers who personally visit each child’s home. This year the bags will include a small plastic magnifying glass, a fun size bag of Skittles, a fake stick-on mustache, the ABCs folding card and a few other small items. I also include information on our church services and ministries and an invitation letter to the whole family to join us if they don’t have a home church.
I think a personal visit is the best follow-up
Kim
this is my first VBS since I was in high School I am excited to be working with the Kiddos and would love to win this to help decorate our “Craft Lab” since that is where I am working 🙂 Thank you!
What I’d like to see is churches follow up with children after VBS using Sunday School invitation postcards (to non-members and to lapsed members), post-VBS lesson kits/booklets (activity booklets that reinforce the VBS theme that kids can do at home), Sunday School continuity lessons activities (i.e. continue the theme at Sunday School for a couple weeks or a month), 60-day, take-away challenge activities on little cards to get them to go practice what they learned at home and with their friends, memorize scripture, read the Bible every day, develop a prayer list, learn more about how to become a Christian, tell others about Jesus, etc.
Very excited for Agency D3, this is our first Lifeway VBS!!!
