Guest Blogger – Jeff Slaughter
I continue to get requests for songs from older projects I’ve done, so I’ll be uploading them all to my online store over the next few weeks.
Last week I posted on my blog the very first project I ever recorded in 1997, “Sun On My Face.” It will always be special to me because it was the first!
My dear friend Michael Demus produced it for me on a “shoestring” budget, yet he poured his heart and soul into every arrangement!
It was birthed after the Lord took me on a two year journey of emotional healing. There were areas of abuse in my life that I had never dealt with and I could feel the Lord calling me to move from “victim” to “victor.”
At that time in my life I was working in several different musical arenas. I was leading worship a few times a year at kid’s events, traveling playing keys and singing with some country music artists, and teaching piano and voice lessons.
I could sense the Lord telling me He had greater things in store, but I would need to “cast my cares on Him” before I could find freedom from past hurts and move forward. The Lord led me to a wonderful Christian counselor, Dr. John Abney, and for a year and a half we dove into God’s Word to find healing and freedom!
If you choose to check this CD out, I pray you will sense the healing thread that is woven throughout each song. I pray you would be reminded over and over again that no matter what happens in our lives, the Lord is always working for our good… that there is always grace in time of need… and that His truth sets us free!
And he who the Father sets free is free indeed.
