Through the decades the third Sunday of May has become a day when churches across the United States and beyond have taken time to pray for the ministry of Vacation Bible School and the many lives that will be changed as a result of being introduced to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Many churches have also used this day to specifically pray for and commission the workers who have volunteered their time for this life-changing ministry.
Even if National Day of Prayer for VBS is not a tradition in your church I hope you will join me and thousands of VBS leaders in a time of personal prayer this Sunday. Remember to pray not only for the VBS efforts of your own church but also for other churches in your community.
Also pray for the thousands of churches across the U.S. who were planning VBS but are now faced with the challenges left by the recent tornadoes and floods.
