Guest Blogger Alyssa Goins: Processes are Everywhere
Processes are everywhere. We have a process for everything. We may not call it that but in reality, that’s what it is. Producing the music for VBS falls into processes. And those processes have processes! It actually makes the production more manageable. They range from choosing theme and Bible content to manufacturing the CDs. These include writing songs, approving lyrics, choosing keys, assigning producers, transcribing the arrangements, proofing, editing, and so on. The processes sometimes are “tweaked” to make the outcome better. Every year we examine schedules and processes so all involved will know what and when they are expected to deliver. I’ve seen the times where we had to go back to the studio and re-record some songs. I’ve tried to be flexible and still stand firm when faced with a dilemma regarding some aspect of the production. What’s the point, you say? We have a God that governs all the processes, if we let Him. I’m grateful for godly co-workers who seek to know His will and ways.
Will you pray with us as we seek God’s anointing on VBS 2012 music? Even now in the midst of all the many processes? We are aware that music is a tool. God can use the music to reach those that might otherwise be receptive to His Word. I’ll be the first to say that sometimes the processes surpass the purpose. We have to be reminded frequently (and we are!) that God can work with mere mortals and use the processes AND the product to glorify His name in all the earth.
Thank you, God, for being a God of processes. May You be glorified in every step of every process. Amen.
